From June 25 - July 2, 2022, GEARUP University partnered with Knowledge for College and the University of South Carolina Sumter to host students from Sumter, Manning, and Lakewood High Schools during its initial College Academic Program.  While participating in this summer experience, students were exposed to decision-making strategies, career explorations, test taking strategies, communicationes skills, college readiness, scholarship planning, financial literacy, forensic experiments, robotic demonstrations, goal setting, creative and critical thinking, learning style inventories, and creative writing strategies. At the conclusion of the instruction, students visited 11 schools in Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia during a 5-day college tour excursion

This collaborative effort was such a tremendous success that the College Academic Program has been expanded to accommodate more students during the summer of 2023. The most significant enhancment will be a one-week program designed specifically for middle school students from Sumter County.
